Jiaxing, where I have grown up, was chosen as our first destination of the “PhotoWalk”.

It is a small city in the northern Zhejiang province, China, with a history of more than 2000 years. Since the 6th century, Jiaxing has become an important stop on the Grand Canal, the 1,000-km-long watercourse connecting the economically important Yangtze Delta with Beijing, the political capital. Nowadays, its prosperous town and busy canal, coupled with a beautiful lake and unspoilt countryside, rank Jiaxing as a leading liveable city in China.

The walking route is 5.3 km long in total, starting from the oldest street in this city -- "Yuehe", then crossing the Grand Canal and passing through many residential areas, and finally ending at a well-known spot in this city--the South Lake. The photos taken along the route are classified into two groups: the old and the new. Through the changes in cityscapes along the way, I want to you the story of Jiaxing. Hope you like it!
